Fresha pricing in Canada: what it actually costs

How the Fresha marketplace fee works

It applies when:

• A brand-new client finds you on Fresha's marketplace (the Fresha website or app) and books.
• Fresha charges 20% of that first booking, with a CA$6 minimum. First bookings under CA$30 pay the minimum instead. It's charged once per client.

It doesn't apply to:

• Returning clients, including ones who first found you on the marketplace.
• Clients who book through your own link, website or social pages.

Keeping the fee small:

• Share your own booking link on Instagram, your website and your Google Business Profile. Clients who book there aren't charged the new-client fee.
• Those clients still book with a Fresha account, which can also be used to find other salons on Fresha. We cover that on the Askie vs Fresha page.
• Fresha's marketplace is a choice about how new clients find you. If most of your clients already come from referrals and repeat visits, the 0% column in the cost table is the one to read.

Card fees in Canada

• Fresha's card rate is 2.29% + CA$0.20 per in-person payment and 2.79% + CA$0.20 per online payment. On a CA$60 visit paid in person, that's CA$1.57.
• Tap to Pay on a phone adds CA$0.15 per payment. A card you type in by hand costs 3.3% + CA$0.20, and Klarna payments cost 6.99% + CA$0.30.
• For context, Stripe's standard Canadian rate is 2.9% + CA$0.30 per domestic card payment. Fresha's online rate is lower than that, so card fees alone aren't a reason to avoid Fresha.
• We didn't find a payout or instant-payout fee on Fresha's pricing page. Check your payout settings before you rely on that.

What the monthly price doesn't include

• Text reminders: 100 a month are free, then CA$0.03 each.
• Marketing: 50 emails a month are free, then CA$0.02 each. Marketing texts cost CA$0.08 each, and WhatsApp messages cost CA$0.06 to CA$0.12.
• Paid add-ons, each billed monthly: Google Rating Boost CA$20.95, Client Loyalty CA$79.95, Insights CA$13.95 per bookable team member, and others in the fee table above. They only cost you if you switch them on.
• Card terminals start at CA$189 each.
• Sales tax. Fresha says its rates are exclusive of local sales taxes.

Who Fresha is right for

• You want checkout, counter card payments and retail in the same system as your calendar.
• You're new or just moved and people who've never heard of you need to find you. The marketplace can do that.
• You run payroll, staff commissions or stock from your booking software.
• Your clients often book several services in one visit.

Who Fresha is less likely to suit

• Your clients come from Instagram, Google and word of mouth, and you want no marketplace around your booking page.
• You have a growing team and want a flat monthly cost, because the Team plan adds a charge for every bookable member.
• You send a lot of text reminders or marketing, where usage fees can add up past the free allowances.
