One shop. Every barber works differently.

Marcus's fade does not need Devon's price or timing. Give each barber the service menu, pricing, and duration that fits how their chair actually runs.

Walk-ins and online bookings, one record

However the client got in the chair, the record is the same.

  1. 1A client books online, or walks in off the street.
  2. 2If they walk in, staff logs their name and phone number in seconds — usually right after the visit.
  3. 3Either way, the client ends up in the same calendar and the same client record.
  4. 4Before the visit, the barber can see relevant service history — fade setting, beard shape, preferences.
  5. 5After the visit, the barber chooses an appropriate return window.
  6. 6The client can rebook the same service and usual barber online, or walk in again.

Online booking closes in the last couple of hours before an appointment — that gap is exactly where the walk-in workflow earns its keep.

Protect the chair's time

A fast cut has thin margin per chair-hour. A no-show costs more than the fee.

Deposits and cancellation-protection charges are configurable per service, either as a percentage or a fixed CAD amount. Appointment reminders and cancellation policies set the expectation before the day arrives.

A 20-minute beard trim and a 45-minute skin fade do not need the same policy. Set the deposit per service, not per shop.

Per-service deposit

Set a percentage or a fixed CAD amount for a hot towel shave or any other service where a no-show hurts.

Reminders and policy

Appointment reminders and a clear cancellation policy set client expectations before the day arrives.

Askie does not promise a specific reduction in no-shows or cancellations. It gives you the tools to set the terms.

Context for the next chair

Your regular shouldn't have to explain their fade again.

Keep previous services, fade settings, beard shape, and preferences with the barber doing the work. It makes the next visit faster for your client and more useful for your barber.

Teams are rarely one-size-fits-all

Employed barbers and chair renters can work from the same shop.

Clients see the whole team together on one booking link. Each barber still runs their own chair.

  • Separate services, prices, durations, and availability for each barber.
  • A mixed team of employed barbers and chair renters, all on the shop's shared booking link by default.
  • A renter who wants a fully separate presence can run their own booking link instead — no per-seat fee either way.

Askie supports employed barbers and chair renters on the same shop account. By default, everyone shares the shop's booking link and each barber sets their own services, prices, and availability. A renter who wants a completely separate presence can run their own booking link instead. Askie does not currently calculate commissions, collect chair rent, run payroll, or provide a point-of-sale system.

Bring clients back on the right cycle

The chair fills back up every few weeks — not every few months.

Staff choose the expected return timing for each service and decide whether and when to follow up. Clients can rebook the same service with their usual barber too.

Reputation where clients search

Build your reputation on Google, not behind another platform's wall.

Your public reputation belongs where local clients can find it. Askie helps make the follow-through practical without choosing which clients get the public review path.

See Google review tools
  • 01Ask for honest reviews after real appointments.
  • 02Keep the public Google review path available to every client.
  • 03Give clients a private way to share concerns without gating the public path.
  • 04Route concerns to the appropriate authorized person.

Considering a switch from Fresha?

An honest fit check

Good software starts with knowing what you do not need.

A good fit

  • Canadian, English-speaking barbershops
  • Solo barbers through small multi-chair shops
  • Walk-in traffic alongside online bookings
  • A mix of employed barbers and chair renters, or either alone
  • An established client base with a short repeat cycle — cuts, fades, beard maintenance every few weeks
  • Owners who want direct client relationships and predictable CAD pricing

Not a fit yet

  • Large multi-location chains
  • Shops needing integrated point of sale
  • Shops needing retail inventory management
  • Teams needing automated payroll or commission calculation
  • Shops needing clients to book several separate services in one booking
  • Businesses whose main need is marketplace-based customer acquisition

Questions worth asking

Straight answers before you start a trial.

Can each barber have their own services, prices, and appointment lengths?

Yes. Each barber can offer their own services, prices, and appointment lengths.

How do walk-ins and online bookings work together?

A walk-in is logged manually — usually right after the visit — into the same calendar and client record used for online bookings. It is not a live, real-time shared calendar view.

Can clients rebook the same barber every few weeks?

Yes. Clients can rebook the same service with their usual barber. No account or password is required. Just the same phone number they have booked with before.

Does Askie support chair renters?

Yes. Chair renters share the shop's booking link by default, with independent services, prices, and availability. A renter who wants a fully separate presence can run their own booking link instead.

Does Askie support deposits and cancellation protection?

Yes. Deposits and cancellation-protection charges are configurable per service, as a percentage or a fixed CAD amount.

Can I migrate my shop from another booking platform?

Yes. Migration is manual and founder-led for supported client, staff, and service information, typically completed in one to two days.

Do I pay commission on bookings?

No. Askie charges no commission. Ever.

Does Askie include POS, inventory, or payroll?

No. Askie does not currently provide those capabilities.
